Embracing Toddlerhood I: Peaceful Partnerships

Any parent of a toddler faces the youngling’s budding sense of personal will with a mixture of celebration and dread. Confronted with an increasing amount of wishes, demands, and the onset of tantrums and meltdowns, we are often lost at what to do! One is bound to wonder: Is this a contest of wills? A power struggle? Should I be firm no matter what? Am I causing psychological damage? Should I compromise? Will I spoil the child? How do I manage tasks while remaining sensitive to the child’s needs?

This workshop will dig into reasons behind these challenges toddlers and young children face and how to respond effectively yet with empathy.

This workshop looks at

- Why your child says 'No' to your requests

- Understanding the magnitude of the toddler’s struggle

- Empowering you with ways to make life more peaceful and cooperative

The session is suitable for parents and caregivers of children between ages 18 months and 4 years old.

Raising a Secure and Independent Child

Research has shown that secure attachments are the best possible foundation for physical, emotional, intellectual, and social development and well-being. The connection between a baby and significant other — parent or caregiver — forms the basis for the child’s inner sense of security and confidence to gain independence and success in life. We will make sense of how attachment works and why it then empowers children to excel on their own.

This workshop looks at

- What our children really need

- How respectful parenting fosters secure attachment

- Skills of learning when to hold close and when to let go

This workshop is suitable for parents and caregivers of children from birth to 4 years old.

Date and Time:  TBC

Location: Shuniya, 33A Hong Kong Street (2nd floor), Singapore 059672

Seeing Play With New Eyes

The drive to play is a core aspect of our human nature, but what purpose does it serve? What’s the buzz about play? In this finale of the series, we will uncover the educative value of the playful instinct, from the classic views of Lev Vygotsky and Karl Groos, to the wisdom of Emmi Pikler and Magda Gerber. We hope this session will elevate your existing impressions of play (it can only get better). Find out why it is absolutely vital to your child's cognitive, emotional, social and physical development and upbringing, and why children are so good at it.

This workshop looks at

- The benefits of play

- How play teaches life skills, such as problem-solving, creativity, powering through struggle, collaborations, and more

- The adult’s role in supporting and facilitating play

- How you can set up your environment at home to support child-led play

We promise that you will see your child's play with new eyes!

WHAT PARENTS AND PARTICIPANTS ARE SAYING ABOUT OUR COURSE...

YVONNE

RPWS Participant

"There were lots of experiential that drove strong messages across and the facilitator (Aletheia) was genuinely sharing her childhood experiences. She it a safe space for all of us to open up with no judgments and I appreciate that."

KARA ALI

RPWS Participant

"I have gained so much valuable insight in a deeper level. I feel calmer as a parent and better equipped to continue my respectful parenting journey."

ANONYMOUS

RPWS Participant

"I have learnt to be mindful not just in how I parent, but of what my own patterns, feelings and needs are as a person. That it's okay for my child to see all side of me, so he would feel free to express every part of himself as well."

ANA

RPWS Participant

“This workshop came at the right moment and motivated me even more to keep on the same track with my parenting, and to educate my husband about it. He was respecting and understanding all the basic 'rules' I was so enthusiastically applying on daily basis. However, not until he had attended one of the workshop session had I seen him absolutely convinced to be on the same page. His comment was, yes, it is possible and yes it is harder. Harder to start from scratch for people who are raised with and used to the old methods. Ever since we've been evolving all together as a family.”

JOLINE J.

RPWS Participant

"Through my participation in the series, I grew more confident in my parenting abilities. Despite being questioned by people who feared that I was being overly permissive with my son, or who were worried that my son is "wild", undisciplined and might be developmentally behind, because I have gained more trust and faith in my son and myself, I think I am also handling the 'naysayers' in a more calm and collected manner - at the very least, I no longer question myself, and I feel at peace and at ease."

PATRICIA

Seeing Play Through New Eyes Workshop Participant

"Our helper, Nuraini, greatly benefited from having attended the nanny training as she learned many practical strategies to support our your son in a more respectful way. She is better able to slow down, give him space and allow him to explore the world in his way."
