About

Boundaries and Consent for Caregivers by Rolypoly Family.

This workshop is for adults who want to further hone their body safety skills for personal development and/or for application as parents/caregivers. Through carefully designed movement exercises and facilitated reflections, participants will have time and space to consider their body boundaries and comfort levels, and practice communicating boundaries, seeking help and advocating for self.

Past participants have expressed that after the workshop, they had a better understanding of their own comfort levels and body boundaries, and were more comfortable with saying or hearing “no” when needed. Participants who were educators/volunteers also found the workshop relevant to their work with children.

About Rolypoly Family :

Rolypoly Family is dedicated to honouring children’s creative genius while supporting the artistic and socio-emotional learning of diverse young children, their families and communities. Led by dance artists Bernice Lee and Faye Lim, we produce delightful arts and dance experiences, such as performances, interdisciplinary projects, workshops, and body safety education from our artists’ intuitive choreographic and movement practices.

We also provide training & consulting for artists, educators and organisations who want to build healthier, safer and/or more creative spaces for diverse children. Our workshops and consulting services can help expand capacities, bridge gaps or tackle specific problems in projects, communities or workplaces.

We have partnered with and brought our programmes to groups and organisations across Singapore, such as community groups, social service organisations, arts groups and institutions, schools, and government agencies, including the National Arts Council (NAC), Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA), Esplanade Theatres by the Bay, Singapore Drama Educators Association (SDEA), The Artground, Goodman Community Farm & Cultivate Central, Club Rainbow, PAP Community Foundation, TRANS SAFE Centre, E-Bridge Preschool, SG Murni, My First Skool, MOE schools, etc.

Our name is a statement of our beliefs – that families come in all shapes and sizes, that kinship can grow through creative and physical play (yes, rolling!), and that rhyming is as fun in language as in dance. Rolypoly Family is a division of Derring-Do Dance.

About Faye Lim:

Faye Lim is a dance and teaching artist, with a background in research, training and sexuality education. As co-director of Rolypoly Family, Faye produces body-based art and programmes and designs curricula for body safety education. She is ACLP certified and leads the team’s training, professional development and consulting projects. As a trainer, she is reflexive and responsive. Her choreography and direction (for performance and for camera), collaborations and commissions have been presented in schools, community places, stages, and galleries in and beyond Singapore. Faye’s advocacy work includes expanding on care practices in the arts through CITRUS practices and safeguarding children’s rights to safety, health, education and joy.
