What is Positive Discipline?
Positive Discipline is an international programme developed by Dr Jane Nelsen and is currently being practiced in over 80 countries, including the United States, China, Australia, and multiple countries in Europe, South America, and the Middle East. Â It is deeply rooted in well-researched Adlerian Individual Psychology by Dr Alfred Adler and popularized by Dr Rudolf Dreikurs.
It is an approach to relationships rooted in mutual respect. It is neither punitive nor permissive, and strikes the healthy middle ground between the two. Â It focuses on long-term parenting strategies that help children feel a sense of belonging and significance, and build the skills that they need to be confident, responsible, and contributing adults in future.
